Part memoir, part field guide, From a Different Angle is a book about lived experience and the lessons hidden inside it. Donovan Tezeno-Parish has spent his career learning a discipline that started long before the job: how to see a situation, and the people in it, from more than one angle, and how to find the lesson in rooms that could have broken him.
From a childhood on the Louisiana coast to the hardest year of his professional life, he shows how the difficult leader, the overlooked contribution, and the moment you most want to walk away from all carry something worth staying for. Along the way he offers a practical method any leader can use: read what is actually in front of you, test whether the stated problem is the real one, and bring the response the moment needs rather than the one you default to.

Donovan Tezeno-Parish is a human resources executive whose work is built on a simple conviction: the best leadership starts with the discipline of seeing a situation from more than one angle. Raised on the Louisiana coast, he learned early, through hurricanes, rebuilding, and the quiet resilience of family, what it costs when no one shows up for the people in front of them. That lesson has shaped every role he has held since.
Across his career, Donovan has earned seven HR certifications, including the SPHR, SHRM-SCP, GPHR, and PHRca, while developing a practical philosophy of leadership grounded in lived experience rather than theory alone. From a Different Angle is his first book: part memoir, part field guide, written for anyone who has ever had to lead, or be led, through a hard room.
He continues to write, speak, and work at the intersection of human resources and leadership.
